Over 35 years ago my parents left their home in Amman and started a new life in the states. I always knew I had family overseas, but it was not until I got older that I learned how big our family actually was. My parents always wanted to send me there, but because we couldn't afford the trip, it never seemed possible to meet them. For the first time in my life, I finally ventured out to find all my cousins, uncles, aunts, and my only living grandparent (teta). This has been one of the most impactful experiences in my entire life - I discovered that I have 62+ people related to me, and the love is surreal. Today on my last day, it is sad to say goodbye, but I know now that we will be seeing each other again soon. No matter how much time has passed, this journey shows me that love from your family is more powerful than any other relationship you can ever encounter in life.
