Through the faces of Elizabeth Street Garden, volunteers and supports alike, we see that the Garden is far more than just a public space- it is an oasis that fosters the community and brings our diverse neighborhood together.
Our volunteers and supporters dedicate their time and energy to saving Elizabeth Street Garden. They open the Garden to the public year round and program more than 150 free public events.
While everyone involved in saving the Garden acknowledges the need for affordable housing in our community, we do not want it at the expense of the little open green space we have left. There are many alternatives and Community Board 2 has identified a larger site nearby where a greater amount of housing can be built.
We have a chance to achieve both affordable housing and the preservation of such a remarkable, magical green space.
These are the faces of our community and we have come together to save the Elizabeth Street Garden.
