PORT-AU-PRINCE, NEW YORK AND GENEVA, UNITED STATES, HAITI AND SWITZERLAND
In mid-October 2010, the UN brought cholera into Haiti by improperly dumping untreated waste into Haiti's largest river. Since then, over 9000 Haitians have died and 745,000 have been sickened by cholera. Haitian victims have persistently called on the UN to accept responsibility, invest in water and sanitation to eliminate cholera, and provide reparations. So far, the UN has ignored them. These are just some of the faces of the people who are waiting for justice from the UN.
As we mark five years since cholera broke out, we are calling on the UN to stop ignoring victims and the harm they have suffered. It's time for the UN to live up to its own ideals of human rights and the rule of law, and Face Justice.
