SAN ISIDRO DE EL GENERAL, COSTA RICA

The statement refers to the work the founders of the community San Andres, a neighboorhood in San Isidro, Costa Rica. 45 years ago they started moving there, to a muddy place with no more than seven huts. No road, water, electricity, school or church. Furthermore a bridge was needed to connect them to the center. How has this rural place developed to a colourfull neighbourhood of 3000 habitants?
We visited and interviewed the oldest habitants enjoying an interesting journey through the history of San Andres. What wishes, messages do they want to pass to the following generations of the district? They not only constructed a water -and electricity system, a school, a church and a street that crosses whole San Andres. They also made the first steps on a path, that is now followed by the next generations living in the same , but so different neighboorhood taking advantage of the work of the founders but also facing other problems and challenges. The journey is the reward - "El camino hace la differencia"
