We are Sheila Becker and Nina Sosnitsky, passionate about photography and its power to transform. Social justice challenges us as a flag and we activate with this motto. In our country, the fourth green wave arrived a few years ago with the new generation, with a huge tide that led us to rethink, question and rethink what system we want to live in.
We want an equitable society, without femicide, without gender violence, without machismo, with comprehensive sex education, equal pay, with sensitivity and empathy towards the environment.
We live in the southern hemisphere, in Latin America, a people who walk without legs as Residente says. After having raised our voices so much, fighting and going out into the streets, a few days ago abortion became legal, safe and free in Argentina. We believe in this form of struggle because we saw how it worked. We lived through a historic moment and filled our hearts with pride and joy all together. But we still believe that we have a lot of obstacles to overcome. Those who suffer most from gender violence and those who suffer most from this patriarchal oppressive system are the women who have the least. We are part of a people who have always fought and we will continue to fight to overthrow the patriarchy.
We want to create a network of feminist photographers in some Argentine cities so that on March 8, we can make interventions with portraits of women in order to generate audiovisual content. We also think it is a relevant way of activating in times of pandemic
