Homophobia and transphobia kill. They are today the first cause of suicide among teenagers in the world. Just like racism and sexism, homophobia and transphobia must be identified, explained and dealt with as early as possible in order to counter the cultural and/or community reflexes that feed the prejudices of secondary school students. The suicide of the young Lucas, 14, victim of homophobic harassment revealed a flaw and imposed an observation: the school of the republic must protect all its students and protect them from verbal, mental violence. or physical with harmful, sometimes fatal consequences.
The DHUODA high school, which welcomes a population composed of an overwhelming majority of boys (87.7% out of 1400 students) of diverse and essentially modest origins, therefore constitutes an environment conducive to the development of sexist and homophobic behavior and other excesses tinged with toxic masculinity. which must be countered within the framework of pedagogical actions affecting the greatest number of pupils and involving the educational community as a whole.
