Roosevelt Middle School is an Artful Learning School. This installation is our Original Creation that helps to answer the question, "Why is Change Necessary?" Each student was asked to highlight a woman that is a hero in their lives. These women will be on display on our campus to celebrate the fact that they are integral parts of our school's community.

Journey Map from our unit on the concept of Change

To prepare, our students created collages

Students researched "change makers"

Each student selected their own change maker

The collages honored the change they created

They represented the change they wanted to see

The students created mixed media masterpieces

Each collage was unique and powerful

Some honored inventors

Others honored conservationalists

Some honored the work that has been done

Others honored work that is ongoing

Some change makers fought for the right of women

Others fought for equal treatment

Change makers fought for the LGBTQ community

Students honored their work and sacrifices

Some incorporated 3D elements

Each was a stunning work of art
