Westover School empowers girls to lead lives of consequence. We are an all girl boarding and day school located in Middlebury, CT, and every year we have a theme that drives the curriculum and special programs of the school. This year our theme was called "Owning Your Narrative", and we thought that participating in the Inside Out project would be a great way us to own ours.
The Inside Out Project is a platform for people to share their stories, especially those whose voices are often unheard. Our goal was to highlight the unheard and unseen voices and faces at our school to better understand the "behind-the-scenes" aspects of the community. The students that took these portraits are doing this as part of a class, and decided to focus on the adults who work at the school. Each photo session included an interview, including questions like "What does family mean to you?", "What inspires you?", "Who is your role model?". We hope that the project will communicate individual identities while still uniting the community through shared feelings and experiences.
Become a Group Leader by organizing an Inside Out Action in your community. Gather 50 or more participants that stand behind a message you are passionate about and paste your portraits in your community.
