At Osseo High School, we believe that a student's sense of belonging is essential for personal growth and academic success. The "We Belong" initiative is rooted in the idea that when students see themselves represented in their community, they feel more connected, accepted, and valued. By bringing art out of the gallery and into spaces where everyone can appreciate it, we aim to decolonize traditional forms of artistic expression and create an inclusive environment where students and alumni are seen and celebrated.
Led by Osseo Art students in partnership with the MN Department of Educations Culturally Responsive Art Educator Cohort, we will create 100 portraits to mark 100 years of Osseo High School being a pillar in our community. These portraits will capture intimate connections between the subjects and the artist, symbolizing our commitment to fostering a safe and supportive space for all. Through this project, we aim to build a stronger, more inclusive community where everyone at Osseo High School can truly say, "We Belong."
