For over seven years, Haiti has been living through a dark night, marked by instability and uncertainty. Yet, amidst the chaos, life persists. This project showcases the faces of those—mothers, students, workers—who refuse to let violence dictate their future. These portraits offer a reminder, as silent as it is powerful: behind every statistic, there is a human being yearning for peace and dignity.
This initiative brings generations together to counter the brutality of daily life with the power of their gaze. It is a collective affirmation of our right to peace. Without slogans, artifice, or glitz, only the raw humility of those who carry Haiti on their shoulders, day after day.
Faced with the social and political fragmentation tearing the country apart, we choose unity. “Figi Lespwa / Faces of Hope” is a mosaic of ordinary citizens united by a fundamental desire: to rediscover the serenity necessary to envision a future. A future that gives meaning back to those who, yesterday as today, stubbornly seek a ray of light in the darkness each morning.
By displaying these portraits in the street, we reclaim public space. Our streets must no longer be places of fear, but spaces for living, sharing, and passing on knowledge to future generations.
These faces also embody the vital need of those working on the ground, both locally and globally, to express their feelings in the face of this emergency. Between economic collapse, social crisis, and political failure, all the landmarks of our society are shattering. It is precisely in this darkness that we must showcase those who are committed and who are taking action.
