“United We Act To Defend Our Children”

WE STAND UNITED AGAINST THE CHILD ABUSE IN GEORGIA

The action was formed by social work students from Ilia State University, Tbilisi, Georgia and locally supported by the EU funded project, “Strengthening Social Protection in Georgia”, that is executed by Expertise France and Czech development agency.
Violence against children has been a growing problem in Georgia for a long time and it worsened during the pandemic period. Reality indicates that the public awareness and attitude towards the problem is insufficient, while the problem persists. To tackle the situation, our group of social work students gathered 47 human and social rights activists around the country and made their portraits with strong messages. Portraits and action posters where publicly pasted on the visible wall at Mziuri children’s park with the objective and hope for higher sensibility and importance of child protection in Georgia. The action had lots of visitors and participants gave explanation and made meaningful statements to the public to stress the issue and importance of the subject. We believe that with this initiative we broke the silence and gave freedom of expression to the voices that has not been heard before. The core message is to speak up , take every case of invisible children out to visible. Make public to understand, that it's our responsibility to protect every child.
