Today, according to UNESCO, 49.5 million girls in Sub-Saharan Africa are out of school. My action, focuses on the students of a local school in the community of Kalebuka (Lubumbashi) which first opening its doors in 2011 and provides a free primary and secondary education to 430 girls.
This action is important because it all starts with education: an educated woman is more likely to give back to her community, to inspire others to attend school, and to cultivate a sense of independence among both her peers and the next generation.
We believe that this community-driven model can, and should, be adopted on the global stage.
