"New Sudanese Communities is a focus on the Sudanese people now living in Brooklyn who have been displaced as a result of the ongoing conflicts in Sudan. Over the past seven years the communities have grown in the Midwood and Kensington sections of Brooklyn. We will be taking their portraits this week and the following week even though it is the holy week of Ramadan for those who are of the Muslim faith these good people are welcoming us into their homes to share their lives and show their faces. They all feel that it is important to do whatever they can do from here to shine a light on plight of the people (their family, friends and community) who are suffering the most as a result of the ongoing conflict in their homeland of Sudan. We will be pasting in Midwood Brooklyn ( Avenue K-Avenue J between 12th and 16th street) possibly in Kensington as well."
