After seeing the TED Talk with JR, Myself and a neighbour and friend, Ingo Isabettini worked together to realize the portraits of everyone living in the building.
One by one, I asked each person living in the building to pose for a picture. One serious and one silly. Once they were done, we printed them at a local shop and a few friends and neighbours helped us paste the pictures on the outside of the balconies.
In celebration, we hosted an art opening/community BBQ. From what was once a building where hardly anyone knew each other, the building lit up with warmth and connections that have lasted to this day regardless of where the people have ended up since this time.
One special note I want to add, the atmosphere at the BBQ as we sat beneath the images was so very warm, open and full of love, and as we connected with music, food and art, a summer shower revealed a double rainbow in the sky. It was truly magical.
