Oslo is the fastest growing capital in Europe and has the doubtful honour of holding first place amongst the most expensive cities in the world. This creates a challenging landscape for entrepreneurs and small business owners. Downtown rental prices are skyrocketing, forcing out unique shopowners in favour of chain stores, real estate offices, and Starbucks. Life along our sidewalks is becoming too predictable. An international trend becoming rapidly apparent in Oslo. With a heart beating for Oslo, we want to salute the pioneers of entrepreneurship, that adds everyday-value to our inhabitants.
As small businesses has to settle for less favorable locations, we want to expose their faces amongst people, and hopefully make more people aware of the values they represent.
In this project, we have been looking for inspiring stories from passionate business owners. What gets them up in the morning? How do they manage to succeed next to big capital? We have visited 19 places and taken 32 portraits of people who:
