In higher education spaces, there is often a puzzling and pervasive tendency to imagine that students and professors are the only members who make up an academic community. We want to disrupt this notion by amplifying the visibility of the members of our UNM community who do the essential work of keeping the physical spaces on the campus running smoothly and who build important community ties outside of the classroom.
In this collaboration between students, faculty, and staff, we highlight the ways in which each individual member of our community is essential in comprising a stronger, more successful whole. This Inside Out project is our way of saying thank you to and honoring these people who transform the University of New Mexico into a successful community across all the diverse and varied spaces that make up our campus. We want to re-center the idea that education is a community event, not one that can take place only in the isolated world of a classroom.
Become a Group Leader by organizing an Inside Out Action in your community. Gather 50 or more participants that stand behind a message you are passionate about and paste your portraits in your community.
