“In the face of devastating capitalism, the smiles of founders resist.”
FIERS D'ÊTRE FONDEURS !
SEPTEMBER 2021 | 63 PORTRAITS
Despite two months of strike action to keep their jobs, the employees of the aluminum foundry saw their company go into liquidation on June 22, 2021.
At a time when the media are talking about relocations, figures and profitability, the foundry workers want to show that they still exist and that their know-how is still present. These are 280 employees and their families who do not want to remain in the shadow of economic history. By displaying their photographs in the city center of Saint-Claude, they put their mark on the long working history of the Jura basin, which began at the very beginning of the 20th century at the Maison du Peuple. Over time, workers have mixed and reflect the history of migration in the working world. Faces change, but the resistant fiber is still found in the heart of the Jura mountains.
It is by drawing on the heritage of the past that employees want to write the future and above all, show their pride in being founders. No fatality, just pride. And smiles!
