“We defend a learning environment where diversity and inclusion are celebrated.”
JERSEY CITY, UNITED STATES
JUNE 2022 | 32 PORTRAITS
We would like to create a work of street art highlighting the notion of diversity in the sense of multiple differences (in particular ethnic origins and languages, more than 50 languages are listed in the families of our students) which, far from distancing us , bring us together in our bilingual college and in our city of Jersey City, the most ethnically and culturally diverse city in the United States.
In artistic and literary terms, we are interested in the motif of the window and the mirror with the underlying themes:
-private space/public space
-the social mask that I wear so as not to be rejected by others
-inside and outside / Border
We would like to create a narrative through the facial expressions of each student whose portraits would be displayed on the windows of the establishment.
We will insist on the gaze, the one that imprisons or that frees, that rejects or on the contrary that welcomes to divulge a message of respect and inclusion.
