In 2022, Villeurbanne is the French capital of culture. The CFC label is now known to all. On a personal or collective basis, we benefit from a cultural offer of great diversity.

But in fact... what is culture?

“Culture in its broadest sense is considered as the set of distinctive, spiritual and material, intellectual and affective traits that characterize a society or a social group. It encompasses, in addition to arts and letters, lifestyles, fundamental human rights, value systems, traditions and beliefs. » UNESCO - Mexico City Declaration on Cultural Policies - 1982

At school, college, high school, nursery, social center, within families and between neighbors we will question ourselves about what culture is. The subtitle of our action is “And you, what is your culture? ". Our work, our exchanges, our research and reflections will focus on what is culture, cultures, our culture and then we will question how to symbolize an aspect of it on a photo portrait in order to enhance it.
The establishments involved in the action will create the event: a display of all the portraits on the same date on the walls of the establishments, in the public space as part of the promotion of the cultural diversity of Villeurbanne.
