Unlock Iran

New York, USA

13 Portraits - February 2014

UNLOCK IRAN is an immersive digital campaign led by the Iran Human Rights Documentation Center (IHRDC) launching March 3rd, to amass awareness and dialogue around Iran’s “prisoners of rights”—individuals jailed for their beliefs, lifestyle or profession—in the lead up to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva in March 2014. We used the Inside Out Project to bring the prisoners faces to light. “This display is a juxtaposition of those who have been imprisoned, tortured and hidden, featured in the global metropolis of New York City,” Gissou Nia, the executive director of the center, said in a statement. “It’s a vivid and commanding statement of those being unjustly silenced at a time when significant diplomatic focus is being placed on Iran and its renewed engagement with the world.”
