Istituto Giorgi-Fermi

Treviso, Italy

34 Portraits - April 2018

I'm Matteo de Mayda, a photographer coming from a little town in northern Italy called Treviso.
My former high school teacher Mara Berletti asked me to teach a class of photography in her new school: the Istituto Giorgi-Fermi.

I decided to let the students use their own smartphone as the lessons were focused on selfies. I discussed with them about this new language they use everyday. We tried to face a less superficial process and closer to the self-portrait, as an expression of the author. I was very impressed about the result.

The project was made possible also thanks to La Esse Cooperative
