Marchers of Lyon

Lyon, France

2 000 Portraits - December 2013

Statement

2000 posters from over 5000 submissions were pasted on the Rue de la Ré in Lyon last week, in only 10 hours thanks to an incredible outpour of local support. This action commemorated the 30th anniversary of the Walk for equality and against racism that began in 1983 in Lyon. The Walk was motivated by a police riot in the suburbs of Lyon and a tense political climate, which inspired people to walk 500 miles from Marseille to Paris in protest.
