When you travel by train, have you noticed that strangers usually don't engage with each other? Most of the time, people are closed off by wearing headphones, working on their laptops or staring out of the window. Would you rather sit down next to someone or on an empty pair of seats? Think about it for a moment. Probably, you choose the last option. I guess we are all just used to this way of traveling, using it as "me-time". Even though this totally okay and we all need that sometimes, the train can also be a way of meeting people and having conversations instead of just silently sitting next to each other. With this project, we would like to make people aware of the option and open them up for a conversation with a stranger. You may find a kind stranger for the ride, a friend with whom to go to the seaside, or the love of your life ;) Or maybe not, but you may find something you haven't already got.
If you feel inspired now, start a conversation with a stranger on your next train ride. If you still feel a bit shy, here is something for you:
Politely ask if you can sit next to your future train buddy and throw out the question: "Have you ever met someone on the train?"
