A small village in the north of the Netherlands is being swept away by increasing industrialization of a near by port-area <Eemshaven>. Oudeschip (name of the village) was founded in the 18th century and will be depopulated for wind farms, energy transport and google data center. The population is passive and just allows the depopulation and impoverishment to happen. We want to give them a voice, probably their last voice.
As a photography teacher of an art school, I want to teach my students social awareness. My students will make the portraits and together with the last residents we want to hang the portraits. Preferably brightly lit so that the residents bounce back the energy and light of the industrial complex back to the threatening factories
