Statement

P.S. 284 Gregory Jackson School is located in Brownsville, Brooklyn.
The school was recently renamed after Gregory “Jocko” Jackson, a local community leader whose motto, "Who can you help today?" is helping the school find focus for their efforts to create a safe space for children to learn and grow. It's an amazing school working in adverse conditions.

USING THE ARTS TO CREATE STUDENT SUCCESS
The Inside Out action was promoted as part of the first-ever GJS Cares Day – created to mobilize students and community members in volunteer service. The action features the “Faces of 284” as a way to beautify the building and draw attention to the positive changes happening inside. Three generations of the Jackson family are featured: Mr. Jackson’s widow, son, and grandchildren; as well as many students, the school principal, parent coordinator, counsellor, nurse, teachers and paraprofessionals, crossing guards, and even student alumni.
