Why this project? :
- To defend the rights of children, and particularly the right to school for all. Because if you don't learn what you learn in school, you can't succeed in life.
- To attract the eyes of passers-by, so that they ask questions. To set an example for people.
- To say that all children are equal but at the same time all different: we are all human but we do not have the same tastes, we are not "photo-copies". We are all “originals”, unique.
- So that everyone feels concerned.
- Because it is important and necessary to work around image education, as when we discover mystery works. There is an important meaning in our photos and what they convey.
- We have all participated in a photographic project but above all, and above all, in a beautiful human experience.
The stages of the project:
- In September, at the Saint Niau educational farm, we took self-portraits and portraits after working on Vivian Maier in class. We made cooperative games to learn to be and live together, to form a classy group, to have confidence in the Other.
- In November, we went to see the photo exhibition at the town hall of Lanester: “On stage”, on the Quai 9 construction site. This made us want to take pictures of the city. They are on display in the hallway near our classroom.
- We then embarked Mrs. Niemiec and her students on our adventure.
- We worked on the CIDE (international convention on the rights of the child) after having studied in history the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen (August 26, 1789) then the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948 ).
- Lanester is a child-friendly city (UNICEF). We were shocked by the number of children who do not go to school in the world: more than 110 million and especially girls, as well as by the number of illiterates. One out of 6 human beings, nearly 800 million, cannot read or write. Two thirds are girls. There are countries where there are not enough schools for all children. Thus, in some African countries, there can be up to 80 students per class! Sometimes a child has to walk several kilometers to get there and back home. Sometimes the schools are so small that the children only go there half the day, to free up the rooms. Other children are forced to work to support the family. In countries at war, school is often interrupted. Each photo represents a right of the child.
- In some South Asian countries, 24 million children are not registered in the civil registry. In sub-Saharan Africa, there are 18 million. These children cannot go to school or seek treatment. They are called "invisible children".
- The teacher registered us to participate in the Inside out project. We were photographed by Den's Saul and then the Inside Out team agreed to print the photos which were sent from New York in early March.
- We discovered our photos in a Dock on Quai 9 and then they were pasted on the facade by the technical services of the town hall.
